Twitter, the micro-blogging site we know and love is celebrating its 6th birthday today. Wow how time flies. It seems like just yesterday when Jack Dorsey tweeted the first official tweet.
I remember when Twitter was just a little fledgling. I was doing a presentation on web trends to my friends at the PRCA East Alabama Chapter in 2008. When I mentioned this new, upcoming trend only two or three attendees at that time had heard of Twitter. Now, over 500 million people use this short messaging system everyday. Oh how it has changed how we communicate – as individuals and as businesses. Mashable calls it the, “largest one-to-many open communication platforms on the web.”
So here’s to you Twitter. All of us here at Square Root would like to wish you a very happy birthday with many more years to come. Keep tweeting!
Do you remember your first time?
Tweeting that is. If so, leave us a comment and tell us how Twitter has changed the way you communicate.
